Chatting in my inbox

So, at first, Gtalk was underwhelming.

But, integrated into my Gmail inbox, I've been using it all day... but in a different way than I use AIM.  I've noticed that, when someone sends me an e-mail, and they're online, its a quick way to ping somebody right back--because they're still in the inbox.  Its very task oriented, whereas AIM is more conversational.

Anyone else feel the same way?  Differently?  Have you used it more now?

First, GMail is not my main email account. That said, I do login from time to time. And I was pretty cold on GTalk being integrated with GMail... until I saw it. It took seeing it in place, seeing my contacts and whether they were online, to see the power of it.

So, I haven't used it, but I agree with you, Charlie. I think it is different from IM, but being a part of GMail makes it pretty powerful.

I've been loving it as well. So convenient.

Between it and skype I'm never out of touch with my friends around the world.
