Charlie O'Donnell Alright folks... here's where you contribute content back to me.
Anyone been to Block Island?
Recommendations for restaurants, hotels, inns, things to do, etc?
If anyone wants to send me good stuff, they can e-mail me, or preferably tag things in del.icio.us by using the for:ceonyc tag. Thanks!

You can either bring bikes (ones that can withstand bumpy, rocky, dirt roads) or rent mopeds (without one or the other you could just stick to the area around town, but the prettier parts of the island are a bit farther away). I would recommend against renting mopeds if you think you want to do hiking, because some of the trail heads are accessible only via dirt roads that don't allow mopeds. I'm pretty sure you can rent bikes, too, if you want (might want to call ahead and reserve). My favorite trail is Clayhead Nature Trail. There's also the Mansion Trail, which is shorter, and a bunch of others. None of them are really long, so you could do several in one day, or you could just do one trail and hang out at the beach (Mohegan Bluffs Beach is my favorite, also, nice views from the top of the bluffs at sunset -- there's a long wooden staircase from the bluffs to the beach below).
Last time I went I found all the info online, including the trail maps. I'll try to dig up the links, but you can also get trail maps at the chamber of commerce once you get there.
