My mom the avatar... plus some neat voice tools, GotVoice and WavePad

So I started using GotVoice, which checks my cellphone voicemail and sends the files to me in an MP3 files.  I love GotVoice because I really find it a pain to dial my voicemail and navigate menus to hear my voicemails.  Actually, I pretty much hate the phone in general.  Converting voicemail to MP3 can be a dangerous tool in the hands of anyone who works for a talking avatar company.  :)

Combine that with this really powerful free audio tool I just found, WavePad, and you have my mom the avatar... live on my blog.  Wavepad is like SoundRecorder on steroids.

Here she is.  Click the play button on the right side of the box to hear her speak.  I'm so going to get in trouble for this.  Love you mom!

I signed up for GotVoice before I went to Europe this summer since my cell wouldn't work abroad. It's helped me out of a few other jams. Unfortunately it doesn't control my voicemail box, just scrapes it. Once they find a way to take control of the voicemail box such that it works similar to email, then this will be killer.

This is the best template for consumer use of an Oddcast avatar that I have seen to date! Keep up the good work.

Ideally Oddcast can make avataring with audio and photo simple for consumers who want to spend under 20 minutes putting a relevant talking avatar on a web site.

I suggest having an avatar a day as a goal - make it easy enough and versatile enough so the consumer can post a new talking avatar each day (or at least each week).

This is real progress, but I suspect CEO's mom avatar is custom, plus expensive, plus not producible in say 20 minutes.

There is still some work needed before we have 100 million consumer-generated Oddcast avatars on the web, but progress is occurring.

Actually... I made her using the stock characters available in Sitepal and soon to be in our free consumer product, Voki! She took me about 10 minutes... I swear! Our platform is very flexible.
