Sprint EVDO through PPC-6700 finally working

First off, Sprint tech support sucks.

I spent two hours over various parts of the last week trying to get my phone to work as a broadband wireless modem, and... nothing.   It took four days before the phone's internet was working just as a standalone.  Using it with the laptop was another story.

Turns out I just didn't have the driver.  It seemed like I didn't, but Sprint assured me that, by downloading their connection manager, that I had the driver.  Not so much.

Seems I'm not the only one that was looking for the driver either.

So, if you need a USB wireless modem driver for a PPC-6700, or supposedly any Win Mobile phone, its right here.

I finally got going, and while the connection speed isn't overwhelming (currently in my office, with only two bars on the phone, its 230Kbps...a little slower than DSL), its definitely useable, and much better than searching for hotspots or paying T-Mobile at Starbucks.

So, until NYC goes WiFi, I'm mobile and Sprint gets an incremental $25 a month from me and my firstborn.

Are you following me on Twitter?

why are u paying $25. u should pay 15. see sprintusers.com and ppc6700users.com. thet have all the tricks and better info than tech support

thank you for help lets see if work thank you

Had the same trouble with getting the PPC 6700 (Sprint) to connect my laptop as a modem. After much searching found the solution. Here it is: (BTW, I am on this connection now, so I know it works!)

You need the disk that came with the phone (sorry about that)
Load the disk in your computer, let it autostart, them press finish without loading any stuff from the disk

Then go to my computer and explore to:
OEM, then APPS, then PPC-6700 by Sprint,
there should appear three files, the two you need are:
PPC6700SPbySprint Dialer.exe
PPC6700SPbySprint.doc

Open the .doc file and follow the instructions to load the drivers to your computer, then follow the instructions to load the dialer to your computer

A curious thing is that the original load from the disk that you did when you bought the phone puts something called HTC USB modem in the system. This is not the one you want. The one you want is the PPC-6700 version of the modem. The directions on the disk will take you there. Go figure why the disk defaults to the HTC thing. At any rate then:

Disconnect your phone from the computer, go to Start, Programs, Wireless Modem,
Select the appropriate connection you want to use, USB is fastest, hit start
Then reconnect the phone to the computer and run the Dialer program you installed on your computer. It should show dialing #777, you do not need to put in a user name or password,
It should connect almost immediately! It is working fine for me.

hey... this is great! However, I don't have the disk. Does anybody know how I could get a connection to my labtop with the phone. It's a great phone, I'm loving it...

Thanks so much... any info would be much appreciated!!
