Guess What Second Space is and Win a Jamba Juice!

Ignition just funded SecondSpace.  I like the guys over there so I'm curious what the company is up to, but they're being very secretive.

The website says this:

"We have the opportunity to build a groundbreaking new online service that helps consumers get the most from their free time."

Its from a group of people who "have impressive track records building global online brands and services such as Internet Explorer, VeriSign, Microsoft FrontPage, Classmates.com, Quicken Loans and others..."

So what is it?

MySpace for grown-ups?

A porn site?

A great new ajax web calendar?

Submit your guess and I'll buy the best guess (As voted by the audience in a couple of days) an Original size Jamba Juice of any flavor.

My guess is that it will be a site you stare into and get hypnotized into thinking you actually had a great time on the site, but what you really did was randomly click AdSense ads for seven hours.

Are you following me on Twitter?

Well given management’s background, I think it’s clear…

It’s a real time virtual meeting ground (classmates.com) for people seeking loans (quicken loans) in a Web 2.0 customizable shell (frontpage) with integrated mobile functionality (msn-mobile) and credit verification (verisign and amex) that is full of security holes (internet explorer).

im finally glad to see a web service that supports the mutually reinforcing relationship between the online and offline worlds. highly geotargeted is my best guess.

ah, they are in Bellevue Washington, not too far from me... maybe I can get a piece of the pie.

A website that will help people trade time at their SECOND homes/vacation (SPACE) properties!!

As an aside, a google search for "secondspace.com" came up with this -

********
Second Space is a new charity with a new idea! People throughout the country with second homes donate a week to families who care for children with PMLD or terminal conditions. Parents can go with or without the child.
*******
This was actually a *fairly* recent post from a university affiliated group in Scotland....guess they didn't take the time to register the website or keep up with the payments....and capitalism wins again!

r.

It's probably simply a supposed "next-gen" online YP-style directory service, with some tools for matching the services/products people are looking for with the most convenient/closest/highest quality businesses that can fulfill the wishlist.

todd, id say you are spot on, but that won't help us get the most from our free time. sure it would increase the time, but that wording means two different things. unless of course im taking it too literally, but in this case im not sure i am

Jeremy, it could just be hyperbole on their part (although that's never happened in the history of .com businesses ;) ). We'll see.

BTW, on their careers page, the statement goes a little further.

"The team at SecondSpace shares a single mission: build a great web service that will better the lives of consumers and the businesses that serve them"

maybe it is kind of the "my directions are better than mapquest's because i live here and know all of the shortcuts and secrets mapquest doesnt"

Somebody bought the domain name, another guy got $6.5 million venture capital from his uncle, his girlfriend wrote the mean-anything blurb... and now they're all sitting round in a garage in Bellvue thinking, "Holy shit, what do we do now?"
